Whiteboard Crypto

Animated whiteboard explainers for crypto fundamentals — beginner-friendly and refreshingly free of price talk.

Whiteboard Crypto is a Common Craft-style explainer channel that takes one crypto concept per video — what's a stablecoin, how does Uniswap work, what is impermanent loss, what's an L2 — and walks through it with simple whiteboard animations and a calm narrator. Videos are typically 5 to 12 minutes, and the channel has built a substantial library covering most of the vocabulary you need to follow modern crypto discussions.

Who it's for

Absolute beginners and intermediate learners who want a clean visual explanation of a single concept before going deeper elsewhere. It's also useful for educators and content creators looking for something to recommend when someone asks "what is a DAO actually" and you don't want to write five paragraphs of Discord. The format works particularly well for people who learn better visually than from prose.

What it does well

The pedagogical instincts are excellent. Each video isolates one concept, builds it from analogies anchored in everyday life, and stops when the point is made — no padding, no upsell, no "smash that like button" theatre beyond the standard channel-trailer ask. The whiteboard animations are well-paced and the explanations rarely cut corners on technical accuracy. The catalogue is broad enough that for most basic terms you can find a four-minute primer and walk away genuinely understanding it.

The channel is also refreshingly free of price commentary, market predictions, and "today's news" content. That makes the back catalogue ageless in a way most crypto YouTube isn't.

Where it falls short

The depth is, deliberately, shallow. Once you understand the basics — and the channel will get you there — you've outgrown the format. There's no advanced material, no in-the-weeds protocol comparisons, no engagement with current ecosystem drama. That's the right design trade-off for what the channel is doing, but it means Whiteboard Crypto is a single tool in your toolkit, not a substitute for technical sources, news, or active research.

The neutrality is also slightly artificial. The channel rarely takes a critical stance on the things it explains; risks are mentioned in passing but not really emphasized. For a beginner this is probably fine, but it does mean the channel's tone leans gently bullish on whatever it's covering. Pair with skeptical sources for balance.
