Blockchain YouTube Channels
Unchained
Laura Shin's long-running interview show — video versions of the same podcast that produced The Cryptopians.
Shin's Unchained is the closest thing crypto has to a serious-journalist-led interview show, and the YouTube channel is mostly the video version of the podcast that's run continuously since 2016. It is the longest-running and most consistent crypto interview program in any medium, and the back catalogue functions as a rolling oral history of the industry — same host, same approach, hundreds of hours of guests.
Who it's for
People who want substantive crypto interviews from someone who can actually push back. Useful for finance-curious viewers, journalists trying to get up to speed, and operators who want to hear founders and researchers in their own words. Particularly good if you're interested in Ethereum and adjacent ecosystems, where Shin has spent most of her reporting effort.
What it does well
Shin is a real reporter. She prepares, she reads the white paper, she remembers what guests said two years ago, and she's willing to ask the question that the founder doesn't want asked. The post-FTX-collapse episodes are a particularly strong run — Shin had been covering SBF and Alameda for years, and the interviews from late 2022 and early 2023 are among the better contemporaneous accounts of what happened and why.
The roster is also exceptional: Vitalik Buterin, Hayden Adams, Stani Kulechov, Erik Voorhees, Sam Bankman-Fried (before everything), Caroline Ellison, plus the entire DeFi founder-of-the-month rotation. The catalogue is genuinely useful as a reference.
Where it falls short
The video format on YouTube is mostly an afterthought — this is a podcast that publishes video. If you want a visually produced crypto show, this isn't it; expect static webcam shots and minimal editing.
Shin is also Ethereum-curious in a way that Bitcoin maximalists will find frustrating. She's perfectly fair to Bitcoiners, but the centre of gravity of the show is the broader crypto ecosystem, not Bitcoin specifically. If you want a Bitcoin-only feed, this isn't it. As a general crypto interview channel run by an actual journalist, it's the strongest option available.
